Rathgar Meals on Wheels - Volunteer Appeal

Rathgar Meals on Wheels, now including Ballyboden Meals on Wheels, are in urgent need of new volunteers. Meals on Wheels is a much-needed service providing lunch to local residents, in their own homes, three days a week (Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays). The service can be requested by HSE social workers delivering home-care, Gardaí working with people in difficult situations, or by anyone who may feel their family members are in need of the assistance. This Sunday 6th October, Ged Walsh will be providing a walking tour of the Rathgar area outlining numerous heritage features that may often be overlooked. Ged Walsh has had a lifelong interest in local history, particularly that of the Rathgar/Churchtown area where he lives. Rathgar is very lucky to have wonderful front gardens as a feature of the architectural design heritage of the area. Dublin 6 Home from Home appeal

Home from Home D6 is an initiative of the Rathgar & Terenure Fellowship. They are seeking support to help a refugee family integrate into Irish life in the area. The reaction to date has been great and many pledges have been made - Arabic speakers, free GP visits, help with CVs/job applications, plumbers, help with paperwork, filling the fridge, friendship, etc. The organising group are currently seeking suitable accommodation and would welcome offers of support. RRA BusConnects Submission

RRA BusConnects Submission

The Rathgar Residents Association has made the following submission to the National Transport Authority (NTA) regarding their BusConnects proposal. We are opposed to what we perceive as the permanent destruction of local heritage and our community in exchange for a strategy uncapable of meeting Dublins transport demand. Revisions to the BusConnects proposal by the NTA are expected later in September this year.
