Rathgar Village Improvement Plan

Following discussions between the Association ,DCC and local councillors over the last number of months a Village Improvement Plan is mooted for Rathgar Village.

The brief for this will be to establish and propose actions around:

  • Enhancements to the public realm, including condition of footpaths, tree planting, removal of signage clutter, provision of cycle stands, quality street furniture, public lighting enhancements
  • Good quality streetscapes and streetscapes with potential for shopfront or building enhancements
  • Opportunities for new or improved pedestrian routes/cycle routes and for traffic calming measures
  • Enhancements to particular features of interest in the village that contribute to its identity
  • Local Initiatives which will promote and enhance local participation in village improvements
  • Opportunities to co-ordinate with other agencies to improve local environment

VIP Area
The focus of this consultation is on improvements to Rathgar Village Centre, that is, the area immediately surrounding the convergence of Terenure Road East, Rathgar Avenue, Rathgar Road, Highfield Road and Orwell Road.

Survey: Street Interviews will be carried out along the following lines

  1. What do you like most about Rathgar Village?
  2. What more could be done to make the village centre more attractive?
  3. What is the one thing you would do to improve the look and feel of Rathgar Village?

Please take the time to answer these questions and/or send on any comments or ideas you might have to help improve the village centre by 30th May 2014 to: southeast@dublin.ie

Consultations will also take place with then the Residents’ Association, Business Association and churches and schools.

Public Workshop
Following a series of local consultations, Dublin City Council’s South East Area Office will hold a public workshop from:

3pm - 5pm on Thursday 26th June in Rathgar Tennis & Bowling club
